CEU Processing

The Wisconsin Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (WisRID) is proud to be an RID-Approved CMP Sponsor.

As a CMP Sponsor, WisRID serves as the link between workshop hosts and the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). This means we help organizations and individuals offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs,) ensuring interpreters have access to high-quality professional development opportunities.

Ways to Earn or Offer CEUs

Whether you’re hosting an event or an individual interpreter looking to earn CEUs, there are several options available:

1. Sponsor-Initiated Activity (SIA)

A continuing education event developed and hosted by your organization.

  • Typically used by organizations to host workshops or conferences.

  • Attendees earn CEUs through an RID-approved sponsor (WisRID).

  • SIA must be applied for BEFORE the event takes place.

  • Scroll down to understand how to offer CEUs

2. Academic Coursework

For certified RID interpreters who want to earn CEUs for completing college-level, credit-bearing courses at an accredited institution.

3. PINRA (Participant-Initiated Non-RID Activities)

For interpreters who want to attend workshops, trainings, or professional development events not offered by an RID-approved sponsor.

  • With an approved PINRA application, you can still earn CEUs even if the activity is outside of interpreting, as long as it’s relevant to your work.

  • Please reach out to cmp@wisrid.org to confirm your PINRA will qualify before you go through the process.

  • PINRA must be applied for BEFORE the event takes place.

  • Submit PINRA Form Here »

4. Independent Studies

WisRID is not currently approved to process CEUs for Independent Studies.
