SAMPLE LETTER 3

(date), 2009

Honorable Senator or Representative (name)

Wisconsin State Legislature

(address)

Madison, WI  53707

Dear Senator/Representative:

I am a resident of the state of Wisconsin and an active member of my deaf and hard of hearing community in (hometown).  I am employed by (your company/organization) for (years) as (your job). We have lived in your legislative district for the past (how many) years.

The purpose of this letter is to urge you to support the 2009 SB 389 (Sign Language Interpreter Licensure) and its Council.  I am convinced furthering my wish to see a better quality of interpreting services in this state will serve all. It will give us the opportunity to develop better relationships with interpreting services with greater respect and trust. Licensure would give us reassurance that there will be more skilled sign language interpreters in our future.  I see the Council offering more effective regulation over the quality of interpreters and assurance of the continuation of professionalism among interpreters.

Thank you for your consideration of support for the sign language interpreter licensure bill, which is very essential to all of us.

Sincerely,
